Abstract
714,030. Filtering gases. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Nov. 7, 1952 [Nov. 28, 1951], No. 28053/52. Class 8 (2). An annular air filter 30, Fig. 1, is held in a casing by legs 46, 47 stamped out from spokes 45, Fig. 2, of a circular retainer plate 40, and the spokes 45 provide full radial support for silencing material 38 carried between the plate 40 and a casing cover 32. In a modification the legs are tapered and abut the inner portion only of the annular filter. The filter casing is surrounded by an annular dirt-laden air inlet 37 formed by a recessed upper face 11 of an annular air silencer unit 10, and which also provides an oil pump 12 at the base of the filter casing.
