Abstract
710,711. Insulation of dynamo-electric machine conductors. CIANCHI, A. L. G. Dec. 9, 1952 [Sept. 13, 1951], No. 21569/51. Class 35 [Also in Groups XXIII and XXXVI] A wire insulated with a combination of glass having a high melting point (600‹- 800‹C) and glass having a low melting point (400‹-575‹C) is wound on to a former coated with glass having a low m.p., and the assembly heated to fuse the low m.p. glasses, but not the high m.p. glass on the wire. The former, which may be an iron armature, and the wire are thus given adherent glass coatings. The glass on the former preferably has the same coefficient of expansion as the former, while the low m.p. glass on the wire preferably has the same coefficient of expansion as the wire and the coefficient of expansion of the fused mixture of low m.p. glasses is preferably between that of the former and that of the wire.
