[Class 36.] A cable terminal comprises insulating windings in which are embedded semi-conductive insertions, preferably of paper having lampblack or graphite intermixed during manufacture, all the insertions being insulated from each other and the surroundings. In Fig. 3, a conductor 11 with insulation 12 has insulating windings 13 in which are embedded semi-conductive insertions 14 .. 18. To prevent radiation phenomena, a metal ring 19 is arranged on the surface of the winding 13. In the construction of Fig. 4, a conductor 21 with insulation 22 has insulating windings 23 with semiconductive insertions 24 .. 28 which are of equal capacity relative to each other and to the conductor. A metal ring 29 on the. surface of the windings 23 is connected to the lead sheath. In a modified construction, metallic insertions of equal capacity are embedded alternately with the semiconductive insertions.
