Abstract

709,051. Pallets for handling loads. AKTIEBOLAGET SVEAEXPORT. Aug. 7. 1952 [May 6. 1952], No. 19928/52. Class 78 (4) The base and the load platform of a pallet are secured together and spaced apart by threaded tubes or bolts 12-20 formed with stops or collars 21, 22 welded to or otherwise secured or formed on the tubes or bolts. As shown, the collars 21, 22 engage metal reinforcing members 23-27 which enclose the ends of the boards 11 forming the base and of wooden bearers 1, 2, 3 forming part of the platform. Boards 4, 6, 8 of the platform are secured by the nuts 31 on the ends of the bolts while further boards 5, 7 are secured by screws 30. The nuts 31 are circular so that they fit into counter sinks in the boards. The ends of the boards and the hedges of the outer boards 4, 8 project beyond the edges of the bearers 1, 2, 3 to lie flush with the flanges 24, 25 and 26 of the reinforcing members. The boards 11 forming the base are preferably bevelled to facilitate the entry of the forks of a lift truck. In an alternative construction; tubes replace the bolts 17-20 and the circular nuts 31 are replaced by counter-sunk hexagonal nuts bearing on washers.
