Abstract
859,186. Pallets for handling loads. KAPPEN, J. W. Sept. 14, 1959 [Sept. 30, 1958], No. 31287/59. Class 78 (4). [Also in Group XXV] Leg units 13 (Fig. 1) or wheel units 14 are removably secured to a pallet by engagement with battens 11, 12 formed with longitudinal slots 27 (Fig. 5). Each slot 27 receives the upper portion 36 of a T-shaped bracket 35 carried by the leg or wheel unit 34 and the slot has an enlarged central portion 28 (Fig. 2) so that the head 36 of the T-bracket is out of register with the terminal parts of the slot 27 both when the pallet is supported by the leg unit and when the leg unit is hanging from the pallet. As shown in Fig. 5, the leg unit has a portion 29 on which the bearer 12 can rest. Each bearer 12 is formed of two suitably formed members bolted together. The pallet has a corrugated sheet metal platform 10 flanked by a reinforcing member 16 and by channel bars 18, 19 by which the pallet may rest on suitable support.
