706,838. Centring devices. TAYLOR, TAYLOR & HOBSON, Ltd. June 27, 1950 [May 20, 1949], No. 33106/52. Divided out of 706,763, [Group XIX], Class 61 A device for centring a cylindrical workpiece 3 relative to an axis for use, e.g. with apparatus for measuring the roundness of the surface as per Specification 706,763 comprises a sliding plate 83 with a Vee groove 86 adjustable by a spring-loaded handle 97 by the movement of a tongue 84 in a groove 85, the workpiece 3 being held against the Vee by a spring lever 95. A depth bar 88 mounted on the plate 83 slides. along the bisector of the Vee with its tip engaging the workpiece 3 which is itself in contact with the Vee, whilst an indication lever 89, pivoted to the plate 83 at 90 bears against a pin 91 on the bar 88. The correct position of the workpiece is attained when an index mark 93 at the end of a magnifying lever 92 coincides with a fixed mark 94 on the worktable.
