[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 2, 1947.] [Class 83 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIII] In the apparatus described in the parent Specification, the effective axis of the microscope 12 is aligned with the axis of the marking tool 3 by means of a prism 7 contained by a carriage 8 urged by a spring 9 to its operative position, as shown. A cam surface 13 on carriage 8 bears against the base of the marking, tool sleeve 4, which when vertically displaced by the rack and pinion 5, 6, causes the carriage 8 to be moved to the right into its inoperative position.
