Abstract
706,245. Feeding wire &c. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS, Inc. June 13, 1952 [July 17, 1951], No. 14975/52. Class 83 (4). [Also in Group IX] Interruption in the continuity of filaments, threads, wires &c. during manufacturing operation is detected by passing the filament 2 through an orifice 6 at one end of a chamber 28 supplied by a tube 32 with air &c. under pressure regulated by a valve 38. A pressure change indicator 34, such as a flag or a pressure responsive switch is connected to the chamber 28. During normal working the chamber is under pressure. If an interruption of the filament occurs air leaks from the orifice 6 and the device 34 is actuated to indicate the interruption or through a suitable relay to effect remedial action. The apparatus. may be applied to wire coiling machines, wire drawing machines, braiding and cabling machines, wire insulating machines, textile filament machines &c.
