Class 80 (4) A pug mill in which a plastic material such as clay is fed into a hopper 10 and advanced along a chamber or barrel 11 by means of a rotating screw or worm, or rotating blades 19 is provided with a curved guard plate 16 which enters the mouth of the hopper and presses on the top of the material on actuation of a lever 14, to which it is attached at 17, by the operator.
