702,822. Arc-rupturing in switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and MARTIN, E. H. B. July 31, 1950 [Aug. 3, 1949], No. 20209/49. Class 38(5) An arc chute is shaped as a divergent nozzle and contains vanes of high magnetic permeability, e.g. steel, the lower edges of the vanes D having V-shaped notches formed therein and the vanes being recessed at E, F, into the insulating side walls of the chute. Further vanes of non-magnetic material may be arranged near the exit of the chute. Specifications 530,199, 593,575 and 645,087 are referred to.
