700,203. Foot supports for footwear. MATTIL, O., MATTIL, A., MATTIL, G., and LATTEMANN, E., [trading as MATTIL LATTEMANN & CO., GEB.]. May 31, 1951 [Oct. 1, 1948], No. 12823/51. Class 17(2) An orthopµdic device for insertion or fixing in a shoe for supporting a foot with a fallen arch comprises a lower layer 2, Figs. 3, 4 of strong material in which is a hole or recess 9 the rim 10 of which is steeply bevelled, and an upper layer 4 which under the sustentaculum tali has a pocket 6 formed by attaching to it a layer of material 5, into which pocket one or more wedge-shaped supports 8 may be fitted. To facilitate this, the layer 4 may be lifted by a tape loop 13. The wedge is steeply bevelled at 8a, Fig. 3, towards the hole 9 and a wedge 12, Figs. 1, 3, is provided on the outer side of the insole to extend rearwardly from the hole or recess 9.
