Abstract

699,988. Stringed musical instruments. NEUPERT, A., and NEUPERT, A., [trading as NEUPERT, J. C. [Firm of] Sept. 19, 1951 [Sept. 29, 1950; March 2, 1951], No. 21975/51. Class 88 (ii). In a harpsichord or like instrument each plectrum 5 is mounted in a metal tongue 3 pivoted in a slot in a jack 1 which comprises an integral bar and may be of metal or a plastic material. A leaf spring 17 bears against the tongue 3, and the position of the plectrum 5 may be adjusted by means of a screw 8 bearing on the sloping top of the tongue 3. At least part of the jack is of circular section, enabling a damper 12 to be held on the jack by a spring clip 14. The main body of the jack may be of circular or rectangular section, and in the former case rotation of the jack in the jack rail 22 is prevented by flats cut in the jack or by a pin-and-groove arrangement. The height of the jack is adjustable by means of a screw 27, Fig. 2, or a threaded sleeve 29, Fig. 5. The sleeve 29 may have a horizontal slot and be fixed in position by the deformation caused by a blow.
