Abstract
N - {21 - alkyl - 41 - aminopyrimidyl (51)} - methyl - 4 - methyl - 5 - b - hydroxyethyl (or b -acyloxyethyl) thiazolium compounds are obtained by oxidizing in acidic medium N-{21 - alkyl - 41 - aminopyrimidyl (51)} - methyl - 4 - methyl - 5 - b - hydroxyethyl- (or b - acyloxyethyl) - thiothiazolone (2). Oxidation may be effected chemically, e.g. by means of hydrogen peroxide, nitric acid, bromine or chlorate, or electrolytically in acid medium. N - {21 - alkyl - 41 - aminopyrimidyl (51)} - methyl - 4 - methyl - 5 - b - hydroxyethyl - (or b -acyloxyethyl) thiothiazolone compounds are obtained by condensing 2-alkyl-4-amino-5-aminopyrimidene with g - aceto - g - halopropyl alcohol or its ester or 2-methyl-2-hydroxy-3 - acetyl - 3 - halotetrahydrofuran and carbon disulphide in the presence of a deacidifying agent and treating the resulting N - {2 - alkyl-4-aminopyrimidyl (5)} - methyldithiocarbamate with an acid.
