Class 64 (i) In a hot-blast stove having a hemispherical domed roof b, the upper layers of the checkerwork d extend upwardly into the dome space, the upper surface of the checkerwork rising outwardly, e.g., in steps, from the combustion shaft. The latter may be at one side of the stove, as shown, or central. The bricks, which may be hollow, are spaced to leave horizontal channels, which may intersect one another for the passage of hot gases.
