Class 52(ii) A foldable chair of the reclining type comprises a pair. of rear legs 26 pivoted at 30 to a pair of front legs 22, a back rest 36 pivoted at 38 to lugs 40 mounted on the rear legs, a seat 42 pivoted at the rear at 44 to the back rest and at the front at 48 to front links 46 formed integrally with a leg rest 50, top lings 54 forming arm rests pivoted at 52 to the front links 46 and provided with slots 56 riding on pins 58 on the back rest and a guiding link 60 pivoted to the front legs at 62 and to the links 46 or the top links 54. A plate 68 is secured to the back rest and has a notched part 70 which is arranged to come into contact with an abutment to limit the fully reclined position of the chair. This abutment takes the form of a bolt 72 carried by an arm 74 pivoted to a rear leg 26 and provided with a nut 78 whereby the arm 74 may, through a block 80 carried thereby, press the plate into frictional contact with the rear leg and so lock the seat and back rest in any desired adjusted position. The sitting position of the chair is shown in Fig. 1 and it may be moved to reclined position by moving the back rest anticlockwise causing the leg rest 50 to come into operative position and the seat 42 to become more inclined. Fig. 3 shows the chair in the process of folding in which the leg rest 50 and the back rest 36 are caused 'to approach one another. This results in the arm rests 54 sliding on the pins 58 the front legs 22 to lie against the rear legs 26, the leg rest to be in prolongation with the seat and the back rest to lie adjacent the seat and back legs.
