The hollow shaft 1 is rotatably mounted in bearings 2 supported by frame members 4 secured to a stand 5. The shaft 1 is driven by a pulley 3 by a belt from a motor. The brush head 6 has a hollow stub shaft 7 which is a push fit in one end of the shaft 1. Relative movement between the shafts 1 and 7 is prevented by a pin 9 secured to the shaft 1 engaging in oppositely disposed slots 8 in the shaft 7. The gland 12 has a stationary portion 13. A number of brush heads constructed to clean containers of different sizes may be provided. In another embodiment the brush head is integral with the shaft 1.
