Abstract

868,688. Mixing machines. NAUTA, C. J. June 13, 1958 [June 25, 1957], No. 18923/58. Class 86 [Also in Group XXIV] Mixing apparatus similar to that described in Specification 599,900 comprises a conical chamber 1 provided with two mixing screws connected by a coupling 10 such that material being mixed is transported uninterruptedly from one screw to the other. A hollow shaft 3 rotatably mounted in the base of the chamber carries a mixing screw 4 and a shaft 6 arranged parallel to the conical wall of the chamber carries a mixing screw 7 connected to the screw 4 by the coupling 10 and by hinges 11, 12. A driving shaft 8 mounted at the top of the chamber has a crank arm 9 rotatably supporting the shaft 6, so that the shaft 6 describes an orbit around the shaft 8. The lower edge of the screw 4 is preferably a scraper blade moving over the base 2. Mounted on the shaft 3 is a pulley to take the drive to rotate the screws. Alternatively the screws may be rotated by connecting shaft 6 to an electric motor, which may be mounted on the arm 9. Homogenizing means 13 is mounted on a hollow supply shaft 15 rotatably mounted in the shaft 3 and provided with a pulley 16 connected to an electric motor (not shown). The head 14 of the shaft 15 is used as a spray.
