[Class 3(i)] A display stand comprises a turntable 11, Fig. 3, carrying the object to be displayed and disposed within a housing 16 having an aperture 17 in its top wall, the turntable being driven by a motor through gearing of such a nature that the turntable ascends and descends within the housing during rotation. The turntable 11 has an internally screw-threaded sleeve 19 fixed to its underside which engages with a. feed screw 20 upstanding from the base 10. The sleeve 19 has an integral ring gear 22 driven by a motor 29 through gearing including an idler pinion 23, which is of sufficient length to engage the ring gear 22 whatever its axial position. Mounted on the top of the idler pinion shaft is a reversing switch 31 connected in the circuit of the motor 29. The switch is actuated by a lever 32 which is operated by the underside of the turntable 11 and the top surface of the ring gear 22, at the opposite ends of the sleeve's axial travel. The turntable has adjustable clamps, Fig. 8, each comprising a radial bar 34 to hold the base 33 of a mannequin or other object. To enable bases of different thicknesses to be accommodated, each bar 34 is provided with an adjusting stud 35, the head 36 of which rests on the turntable, and with a clamping bolt 37 which extends through the bar 34 and a ratchet slot 38 in the turntable, the slot being reinforced by a plate 40.
