Abstract

890,994. Bearings. AMICA-PRODUKTER, KOMMANDITBOLAGET E. LINDEROTH & CO. Sept. 30, 1958 [Oct. 7, 1957], No. 31214/58. Class 12 (1). [Also in Group XXIII] In brushing apparatus, e.g. a carpet sweeper, a mounting for the or each brush roller 4 comprises a pair of resiliently-distortable bushings 12, 13 of rubber or similar material which are mounted in the apparatus and are closed at one end. A small metal plate may be located on the inner side of the closed end of each bushing. As shown in the Figure, four rollers are provided each of which is rotatably mounted in one of four openings 3 respectively, the latter being formed in the bottom of a container 1 which is divided into four chambers. A cover, not shown, is attached to the container 1 by means of a square peg 9 on the latter, and the cover has attached thereto a handle so disposed that the carpet sweeper may be propelled over a carpet in a direction which makes an angle of approximately 45 degrees with the axes of the rollers. The shafts 5 of the rollers are each preferably constructed of two intertwisted wires between which the bristles are held, the ends of the wires being shaped to form cylindrical journals 11.
