Abstract
690,087. Sewing-machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). Oct. 19, 1951, No. 24422/51. Class 112. In a bobbin-case for rotary loop-takers and comprising a cap 11 and a base 10, the base includes a disc 12 having a groove 16 in one face and a bearing surface around the periphery, a detachable rotation-restraining finger 19 being positioned by the groove and fastened to the disc. A slotted bobbin post 15 and the finger are secured to the disc by a screw 21, an additional screw 24 completing the fixing of the finger which passes through an aperture 17 in the disc. A latch lever 28 on the cap holds cap and base together by co-operation with an aperture 37 in the bobbin post. The lever is urged by a spring 32 to lie flush with the surface of the cap when the bobbin-case is closed, and is so .shaped that a heel 28' engages the bore of the bobbin so that bobbin and cap may be removed together when the lever is lifted. The periphery of the disc is cut away to form a needle-thread-loop-detaining spar 18 and a thread clearance gap 18'. The areas 38, 39 of the cap are bevelled to facilitate passage of the needle-thread-loop.
