Abstract

685,024. Pit props. GENRICH, A. & BREUNG, T., (trading as SCHWARZ KOMMANDITGES, H.). May 11, 1951 [May 11, 1950]. No. 11100/51. Class 20 (ii). The two parts 10, 11 of a telescopic pit prop are clamped together by means of clamp 13 operated by a wedge 20 having a stop 22 to limit its clamping movement, an abutment, e.g. a nut 26, taking the thrust of the wedge, and being adjustable to determine the loadcarrying capacity of the prop. The wedge 20 passes through a slot in a bolt 19 on which nut 26 is screwed and which bolt passes through holes in the ends 17, 18 of clamp 13 surrounding the upper member 11 of the prop. The clamp 13 is secured to the lower prop post 10 by a clamp 14 connected to it opposite the clamp ends. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the adjustable abutment is a wedge in a slot in the bolt which is welded in position after adjustment.
