Abstract

684,788. Anµsthetic appliances. EDMONDSON, W., and JONES, W. July 4, 1951 [July 4, 1950], No. 16606/50. Class 81 (ii). A nose piece is connected by a flexible tube to a pipe coupling, mounted on a frame secured to the head by spring-loaded pads gripping the temples. In the form described the nosepiece A is connected by a flexible tube C to a coupling D to which the pipe from the anµsthetic supply is connected. This coupling is mounted on a metal strap B which is connected at each side by spring wires E to a pad F. The nosepiece is held on to the face by adjustable straps G engaging studs F<SP>2</SP> on the pads F. The specification also describes an adjustable exhalation valve (see Fig. 2, not shown) in which the valve disc may return to its seating by gravity or under the influence of a compression spring which may be adjusted by screwing down a top cap to which it is secured.
