Abstract
678,222. Gas cooking stoves. MAIN, Ltd., R. & A. Oct. 24, 1950 [Sept. 12, 1949], No. 23549/49. Class 126 A gas oven has a single burner across the bottom and an outlet for the products of combustion at the top and front of the oven and an auxiliary outlet nearer or at the back of the oven. The oven is heated by a burner 10 extending across the bottom of the back wall 11. A proportion of the waste gases escape through an outlet 12 in the top wall of the oven into a flue passage 14 extending between the upper wall of the oven and the bottom wall 20 of the grill chamber. An opening in the top of flue 14 co-operates with an upwardly extending tapered flue passage 17 leading to an opening in the cooker hot-plate. Additional openings 21 in the top wall of the oven also lead to the shallow flue 14. Further openings 23, spaced apart across the top of the back wall 11 communicate with a duct 24 leading into flue passage 14. The openings 21 in the top wall may be dispensed with, and the openings 23 in the back wall may lead to a duct extending out through the cooker casing, Fig. 2 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 3, (not shown), the additional openings in the top or back wall of the oven are replaced or supplemented by openings in the side walls near the back, which communicate with ducts leading to the shallow top flue. Alternatively or additionally openings in the side walls may lead to a duct extending out through the casing. Specification 606,576 is referred to.
