Abstract
673.881. Cooking stoves. GLOW-WORM BOILERS, Ltd., and WHITEMAN, I. Dec. 1,1950 [Dec. 1, 1949], No. 30803/49. Class 126 An oven heated by a firebox, and also provided with a gas burner for use when there is insufficient heat from the firebox is provided with an opening in the oven bottom normally closed by a plate which can be raised to an upright position across the opening, allowing heat from the gas burner to enter the oven through the part of the opening on one side of the plate and waste products of combustion to escape through the part of the opening on the other side of the plate after circulation round the oven. An oven 14 is heated by hot gases from a fire box 10 passing up a rear flue 15. The rear wall of the oven is provided with fins 27 and a gas burner 16 is mounted below the rear edge of the oven. When the oven is heated by the firebox an opening 23 in the rear of the bottom wall of the oven is closed by a plate 20, which is raised to a vertical position, as shown, when the oven is to be heated by the burner 16. Combustion products from burner 16 pass into the oven through the rear part of opening 23, up the back, round the oven and out through the front part of the opening. A gas burner 25 may be supported at the front of the hot plate 11. The fire box may be partly or mainly surrounded by bricks and may have a pedal operated or reciprocating grate.
