Abstract

676,918. Two-part couplings. SCHRANZ, R. Jan. 5, 1951 [May 30, 1950], No. 13476/50. Class 38 (i). In a plug and socket connector for cystoscopes and like instruments, concentric plug pins 3, 4 are carried by the instrument 1 and are adapted to engage outer and inner contact sleeves 7, 6, respectively, in the socket portion of the connector. The sleeves are connected to supply leads 10 and are separated by an insulating bush 8, a sheath 11 of rubber surrounding the sleeves. Sleeve 7 is resilient, comprising either a helicallywound strip or a tube with a spiral slot, and sleeve 6 is arranged eccentrically there - to so that radial contact pressure is exerted on the pins. Pin 3 is arranged to close the mouth of the socket before pin 4 contacts sleeve 6 so as to enclose any sparking which may occur and to obviate corrosion of the contact surfaces.
