Abstract
675,486. Brake discs. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and BUTLER, H. J. March 1, 1950 [March 22, 1949], No. 7692/49. Class 103 (i). A brake disc comprises a plurality of strips 1 disposed in side-by-side relationship and forming an annular disc, each of the strips being at one end rigidly secured to an annular frame 4 provided with driving dogs 5 and at the other end located in an annular channel-shaped member 6. Adjacent strips are maintained in register by tongue-and-groove joints provided with expansion gaps to avoid distortion due to heating. Radial expansion gaps are also provided between the inner ends of the strips 1 and the base of the member 6. The frame member 4 to which the strips 1 are rigidly secured may be provided at the inner periphery of the disc and the channel-shaped member 6 at the outer periphery. The strips 1 may be radially disposed instead of being mounted obliquely as in the arrangement shown.
