Abstract
790,100. Disc brakes. GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO. May 15, 1956 [Sept. 14, 1955], No. 15066/56. Class 103 (1). In order to minimize the tendency of a disc brake to vibrate, the disc 10 thereof is formed with an odd number of slots 13 therein for engagement with keys 3 on the wheel, and there are provided an odd number of stations for the spot-type friction pads 7 for engagement with the disc 10, the number of slots 13 being greater in number than the number of stations but not evenly divisible thereby. The disc 10 is, preferably, provided with axially extending reinforced peripheral edge portions 11 and 12 at one or both of its rims. The slots 19 may, if desired, extend radially outwardly from the inner peripheral edge of the disc 10.
