672,087. Electron discharge apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. May 17, 1950 [May 20, 1949], No. 12284/50. Class 39 (i). [Also in Group XXII] An electric discharge tube has parallel wires 3 stretched over an aperture 2 in a flat grid ring 1 and after the wires are secured to the ring by soldering a thin wire 4 of hard material is placed at right-angles to the wires 3 on the blank side of the ring and then pressed into the ring so that the wires 3 are tensioned the wire 4 being subsequently removed. The wires 3 are gilt tungsten and the aperture 2 may be square or rectangular.
