Abstract

668,580. Hair-waving devices. MULLER, A. Feb. 14, 1950. [Feb. 23, 1949] No. 3769/50. Class 131. A steam-heated clamp for use in hairwaving comprises a pair of spring-pressed, arcuate jaws 1, 2, provided with finger-grip portions 5, 6 and pivotally connected along one edge on a pin 3 to embrace a curler rod on which a tress of hair is wound, each jaw having a bore with nipples 8 extending from each end and a flexible tube 9 connecting the nipples at one end of the jaws. The nipples at the other end of the jaws are connected to a steam generating apparatus and exhaust, respectively, and the clamp is placed, successively, over curler rods on which hair, covered by a metal wrapper is coiled, heating of the hair being effected by the circulating steam.
