Abstract
668,324. Gas-blast circuit-breakers. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. June 23, 1950. [June 28, 1949] No. 17075/49. Class 38 (v). In order to prevent turbulation of the gas as it flows to the contacts, and to increase the voltage strength of the contact gap, the gas path is subdivided into a number of parallel paths by baffles 7, 8 arranged between the movable contact support 2 and the tubular housing 1. The baffles may be in series, as shown, or concentric, and may comprise a ring 7 and a number of radial fins 8. The baffles may be shaped so as to direct the gas into the contact gap.
