Abstract

667,479. Bearings. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 2, 1950 [March 18, 1949], No. 5325/50. Class 12 (i). A ball or roller bearing 4 is mounted within an end shield 2 by means of a compressed resilient plastic liner 5 and a smoothsurfaced metallic split cylinder 6 disposed between the liner 5 and the bearing 4. A flat washer 9 of resilient plastic material is provided on one side of the bearing, and a split circular snap-ring 8 engaging a circumferential groove 7 in the end shield 2 retains the liner 5 in position. Chamber 10 forms a lubricant reservoir having a lubricant filling opening 11 closed by a plug 12.
