Abstract

662.105. Centrifugal pumps. WERNERT, K. June 23, 1949. No. 16767/49. Class 110(i). A single stage centrifugal pump with an overhung rotor 16 has its casing parts pressed to shape from a synthetic plastic and comprising covers 1 and 2 at the suction and driving sides respectively, with a spacing ring 3 between the covers and forming the inner spiral wall of the casing. The ring 3 comprises concentric annuli 5 and 7 connected by a radial flange 6 and ribs 8, and has flanges fitting grooves 11 in the covers. Rubber or other packing rings 10 are provided. Rings 15, which are integral with the covers or welded thereto, provide packing for the. rotor 16. The suction branch 12 is welded on at 13. The casing parts are bolted to a supporting ring 18. The casing can be used for a pump of greater capacity by the use of an alternative cover 1 having a larger suction branch.
