Abstract
660,716. Dust confining in industrial processes. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., and KESTELL, D. W. May 10, 1950 [May 11, 1949], No. 12519/49. Class 8 (ii). A dust collecting apparatus comprises a suction hood 3 having within it a movable tray 55 which in one position, e.g., the forward position wherein' the front wall 59 of the tray touches the hood closure member 17, provides for dust-laden air passing over the tray and depositing dust thereon; the tray in its other position, e.g., at the rear of the hood, providing for little or no deposition of dust. In this latter position the dust-laden air passes through the space between the tray front 59 and the member 17 and traverses filter bags 33 and an impeller 45 to atmosphere, whereas when the tray is in the forward position the air freed of dust deposited on the tray passes between the rear wall 57 and a baffle 21 to the filter bags 33. The baffle 21 may be pivoted at its upper extremity and hinged transversely near the top.
