Abstract

753,020. Suction cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd. Jan. 21, 1954 [Jan. 21, 1953], No. 1801/54. Class 8(1). A suction cleaner comprises a motor-fan unit 31, a filter bag 50 and a casing 6 arranged to enclose both the fan unit and the filter with the latter folded in an inoperative storage position but to allow the filter to extend outside the casing to 'a working position in which it is inflated to a size such that it could not be accommodated in the casing : this is especially so when the filter contains sufficient dirt to impair its efficiency. The casing 6 has a cover 15 hinged at 16 and spring biased to an. open position and held closed by a catch 53. The outlet 33 is flanged at 40 to receive a flange 41 to which the bag 50 is secured. The flange 41 may be removed and a blowing adaptor inserted in the outlet 33. In a modification the outlet to the bag is in a horizontal plane so that the bag extends vertically. Beneath the bag outlet a dust container is provided in the form of a removable drawer into which dust falls or may be shaken from the bag. A blowing adapt- or may be inserted in the outlet by removing the drawer but without removing the bag.
