Abstract

658,574. Silencers. AKTIEBOLAGET ENKOPINGS VERKSTADER. May 27, 1949, No. 14266. Convention date, May 28, 1948. [Class 7(ii)] [Also in Group X] A cyclone 9 concentrically mounted within a casing 2 has a discharge opening coaxial with and opposite to the casing inlet 1 and a collecting receiver 5, and exhaust gases are caused to flow over the outer surfaces of the cyclone and receiver before being introduced into the cyclone. Tongues 7, 8 may form a spiral inlet passage to the cyclone by which rotation is imparted to the gases to separate therefrom glowing particles which are conveyed to the receiver. The discharge opening may project into and form a pocket with the receiver to prevent particles being reintroduced into the cyclone, and the casing outlet 11 may be a tube 12 having an inwardly inclined flange 13. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes tongues arranged to form oppositely disposed inlets to the cyclone. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
