Abstract
654,673. Cathode-ray tubes. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 4, 1947, No. 29411. Convention date, Nov. 9, 1946. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] A method of producing a thin metal backing on a granular fluorescent screen comprises (a) applying water to the granular surface so as to fill the interstices and removing excess; (b) flowing on a very thin layer of a polyvinyl resin dissolved in ethylene dichloride and allowing the solvent to evaporate; (c) depositing a layer of metal, e.g. aluminium or beryllium, by evaporation; and (d) heating to disperse the moisture and the resin, e.g. at 400‹ C. in air or vacuum.
