614,947. Cathode-ray tubes. GOFF, G. B. F., and CATHODEON, Ltd. May 31, 1946, No. 16673. [Class 39 (i)] A fluorescent cathode-ray tube screen is covered with a thin film of ethyl cellulose by flooding the screen with a layer of water or other liquid, and floating on to it a solution of ethyl cellulose, which may contain a plasticiser of the alkyl phthalate type. On the solvent evaporating, a continuous coating of ethyl cellulose is left over the water surface. The water is then run out by tilting the containing bulb, leaving the ethyl cellulose film in close contact with the screen. On this film, after drying, is deposited a thin film of conducting material, e.g. aluminium, beryllium or magnesium. Specification 558,323 is referred to.
