Abstract
653,249. Electric discharge tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL, Ltd. Aug. 19, 1947, No. 22976. Convention date, Aug. 22, 1946. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XL (c)] An oscillator or amplifier using a valve having a cathode 2, a control grid 3, an anode 4 and a secondary emitting electrode 5 has the control grid and anode interconnected by a low impedance and has either an output tuned circuit connected between the cathode and secondary emitting electrode (Fig. 3), or has the interconnected electrodes connected to the cathode through an input tuned circuit and to the secondary emitting electrode through an output tuned circuit (Fig. 1, not shown). The interconnected electrodes may in addition be earthed at the working frequency. In the oscillator shown, the anode and control electrode are interconnected by a capacitor 10 which may be situated within the valve envelope or may be constituted by the interelectrode capacitance if the valve is suitably designed and a half-wave resonant line is connected between the cathode and secondary emitting electrode, the supplies being fed in at the quarter-wave points. The anode electrode conductors are preferably situated in the shadow of the control grid wires and the anode and control grid may be in the form of metal discs having one or more aligned apertures.
