Abstract
652,332. Sinning &c. machines. FAIRBAIRN LAWSON COMBE BARBOUR, Ltd., and SUFFERN, W. S. Sept. 30, 1948, No. 25441. [Class 120(ii)] In a spinning or like frame in which sliver is drawn from a roll by the pulling action of the back or intake drawing rollers, a distance, control roller B is rotatably mounted at a predetermined distance from the nip of the intake rollers C, D, and inclined slides or guides A<2> are provided, extending to about the surface of roller B, to receive a core A<1> with a roll A wound thereon, so that when a full roll is placed on guides A<2> it is pressed by gravity against roller B which is so positioned that the distance between the nip of roll A and roller B and the nip of rollers C, D is less than the average length of the fibre in the sliver and this distance remains constant during the unwinding of the roll. Roller B is freely mounted on a rod B<1> and may be covered with rubber or other material for suitable frictional contact with the roll. Specification 595,635 is referred to.
