Abstract

651,601. Constructional toys. DEHN, F. B. (Columbia Protektosite Co., Inc.). Aug. 30, 1948, No. 22832. [Class 132 (iii)] [Also in Group X] A toy building block preferably hollow and of synthetic plastic material which may be translucent or transparent comprises a rectangular tubular body portion 16 to which are secured facing plates 25 of larger area to form a peripheral groove 19, the body portion being formed with two offset tongues 21, 22 on each face to provide an interlock between adjacent blocks. Each plate 25 has a rib 28 to engage within the body portion and an adjacent groove to receive one end of the body portion. Prismatic portions 26 may be provided on the inner face of each plate 25. Strengthening ribs 17, 18 are provided on the inside of the body portion 16. A spacer member of fibrous or rubber material may be secured within the peripheral groove 19 of a block or spacer strips may be incorporated in a wall to extend over the length of a number of blocks.
