In one form, building elements 10, Figs. 1, 2, have inclined channels 12 along which run marbles introduced through openings 22, to fall out through holes 24 at their opposite ends. The two ends of each element are formed with spigots 26 and sockets 28. The entry opening 22 is closed by an inclined wall 20 leading to the channel 12. The building elements 10 are used in combination with building elements 32, Fig. 3 each having a helical track along which a marble may run when introduced through an opening 36 to leave through an opening 38. The opening 36 provides another spigot 26, for engagement in a socket (28), Fig. 4 (not shown), beneath the building element. The building elements are assembled to form structures such as shown in Fig. 7, which also incorporates spacer sleeves 39. Other examples of structures which may be erected to form two and four columns, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), omit the spacer sleeves. The elements may be transluscent, and made from a plastics material. As shown, the channels 12, &c are U-shaped, but alternatively they may be enclosed The bases of the channels may be serrated, so as to produce a sound as the marbles roll along, or can contain bells struck by marbles in passing.
