Abstract
Finely-divided polystyrene resin is incorporated into an aqueous solution of a watersoluble colloid such as gelatine, polyvinyl alcohol, gum arabic or casein, and the solution is coated on to a support and set and dried, to form a matt layer. The finely-divided resin may be added directly to the colloid solution. Preferably an aqueous dispersion of the finely-divided resin is first formed using a dispersing agent such as the sodium salt of lauryl hydrogen sulphate or of oleyl hydrogen sulphate and is added to the colloid. Four examples describe the production of polystyrene resin-gelatine dispersions.
