Abstract

1,230,542. Making synthetic rubber slurries. KAO SOAP CO. Ltd. 29 Jan., 1969, No. 4922/69. Heading C3P. An aqueous slurry of synthetic rubber is made by passing an organic solvent solution of the rubber into a heated aqueous medium containing as dispersing agent a water-insoluble polymer which is a vinyl acetate polymer or copolymer, a partially hydrolysed vinyl acetate polymer or copolymer or a polyacrylate, and steam disstilling the solvent off. The aqueous medium may also contain surface active agents or inorganic salts, e.g. CaCl 2 . The water-insoluble polymer may be present as a latex or a dispersion.
