638,702. Motor supports. MALCHUS, J. A. C. Aug. 28, 1946, No. 25824. Convention date, July 10, 1945. [Class 35] In a suction cleaner comprising a motor fan unit 5 held against axial displacement within a housing 4 having a removable air outlet end cover 13 by resilient mounting means 2, 8 disposed in at least two planes perpendicular to the unit axis, the resilient mounting means 8 nearest the fan outlet is held against the unit 5 by a single ring-shaped member 6 so resiliently and detachably engaged with the housing 4 that the mounting of the unit is not affected by removal of the cover 13, the holding means comprising spring lips 7 on either the ring 6 or the housing 4 coacting.with a flange 10 on either the housing 4 or the ring 6. Silencing is effected by an air cushion space 11 assisted by a layer of felt 14 on the ring 6. Exhaust air from the space 11 passes ports formed by the lips 7 and is discharged through an opening 12 in the end cover.
