Abstract
636,625. Automatic catches. HOOVER, Ltd. Aug. 14, 1947, No. 22622. Convention date, Aug. 21, 1946. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a latch 30 which retains a cover 13 on a casing 10 of a suction cleaner (see Group XXVIII) and in the closed position extends beyond the plane of the casing mouth, means are provided to retract it when released to prevent it projecting beyond the plane of the mouth. The latch 30 is of a toggle type and comprises a strut 38 pivoted at 36 to a casing 10, a longer tension link 43 pivoted to the strut 38 at 41 and hooking round a part 46 of the cover 13 and springs 48, 51 on both pivots 36, 41 which tend to urge the strut 38 and the link 43 away from the casing 10. Where the latch is released the link 43 is automatically shifted to and held in an angular position relative to the casing 10. Specification 612,223, [Group XXVIII], is referred to.
