In a hose coupling in which a hose end fitting 8 is detachably secured in the socket 4 of a vacuum cleaner such as by a spring latch 12, a sealing device comprises a resilient sleeve 13 having a flange, which extends first outwardly at 14, and is then inclined inwardly towards the fitting at 15, and has its end compressed against the mouth of the socket.
