Abstract
634,106. Drawing &c. boards ; portfolios. ENSOR, A. J. Feb. 12, 1947, No. 4026. [Classes 11-and 146 (i)] A drawing &c. board 1 has stays 4 pivoted to the board at 3 and carrying a plywood &c. cover 11 which can be folded down on to the board or held as a shield over it : the stays 4 can be swung back beneath the board to act as props, e.g. when the board rests on the user's knees. Links 5 slotted at 7 slidably to receive pins 8 by which the cover 11 is pivoted to the stays 4, are pivoted to the head of the board at 6. The parts are secured in angular position by nuts 16 on the pins 8. Each pin 8 carries a forked member 9 in which is secured a channelled side batten 10 of the cover 7 extensible legs 15 sliding in the channels being secured in adjusted position by screws 15a. A waterproof sheet 17 extends from the end of the cover and over the board, and from the point 18 onwards the sheet is secured along the side and rear edges to form a portfolio pocket behind the board. A sling 20 for suspending the board from the user's body is attached to links 21 at the corners of the board. Struts 23 may be swung out to engage the pins 8 and prevent the board from resting too near the body. Side flaps, Fig. 7c (not shown), may be provided to assist in rain &c. protection. Plates 32 pivoted to the side edges of the board 1 have slots 33 to receive the pins 8 and hold the cover off the board, and slots 34 in which the pins can engage to fasten the cover when pulled down.
