Abstract
627,674. Buttonhole sewing-machines. INTERNATIONAL BUTTON HOLE SEWING MACHINE CO. Aug. 8, 1947, No. 22010. Convention date, July 11, 1941. [Class 112] In a buttonhole stitching or like cycle, during the setting of the last stitch by the take-up 54 thread is drawn off for the next cycle by a pull-off arm 52. In a machine which cuts the buttonhole at the completion of the stitching cycle, the pull-off arm 52 is actuated, on the depression of the cutter arm 41, by a connection 58. The length of thread pulled off is varied by shifting the pivotal connection 62 of the arm 58 to a plate 57. The plate 57 and the pull-off arm 52 are pivoted at 56 and are secured together by a screw 61. The arm 52 can be adjusted relative to the plate 57 to vary the normal position of the eye 51 relative to the take-up 54 and so vary the take-up action to suit different weights of fabric.
