Abstract
627,080. Scissors. RICHARTZ, P., Aug. 6, 1947, No. 3602. [Class 30] The cutting edge 14 of each blade 10 is straight along the operative portion, and the portion near the pivot axis is twisted at 18 to provide a backing-oil of the blade along its length, the portions on each side of the twist remaining flat but with their planes at an angle to one another. A cam-shaped bearing face 17 is preferably provided on each blade on the opposite side of the pivot axis to the twist, to maintain the cutting edges in contact at their point of intersection throughout the cutting operation. The edges of the blades may be bent over at 27 to give a hollow ground effect. The blades may be pressed from sheet steel of uniform thickness or of wedge-shaped section.and may have separately attached handle portions moulded from material such as an alloy or plastic so as to provide shanks 30 extending through holes 9, or separate rivets may be used.
