Abstract

626,927. Respiratory masks. LEMAIRE, A. June 13, 1945, No. 14997. Convention date, June 19, 1944. [Class 81 (ii)] An anti-dust mask enclosing the nose and mouth only of the wearer consists of a filter pouch 1 to which is attached a separate flexible sealing member 3 adapted to conform readily to the contours of the wearer's face, the parts 1 and 3 being made wholly of textile material, preferably filter gauze. The upper part is sewn at 5 to provide a crest which conforms to the nasal bone and there is a wide base 4. The mask is attached to the face by cords, as shown, the forward ends of 9 and 13 crossing the crest 5 in opposite directions so that when ring 16 is pulled the member 3 is pressed to the nose and face. In a modification, Fig. 4, (not shown), the member 3.is built up of several layers of material parallel to the face, each layer being cut where it engages over the nose.
